Welcoming Julian Cawthorne, Erskine Murray’s newest Account Executive

We are delighted to introduce our new Account Executive Julian. Bringing a wealth of knowledge to the business, we wanted to find out more about his background and what he will bring to Erskine Murray.

Where did you gain your insurance industry experience?

My insurance career started out in 1999, where I stared work at Hill House Hammond, operating within a call centre environment. After a short time, I was successful with my application to work in the technical underwriting department. I was trusted with delegated authority and formed part of a small team as a referral point for the 2-site operation.

2002, I joined RK Harrison Insurance Brokers, who were a leading independent at the time. Following some intense product training I worked on various schemes from 2002 – 2006, which included, printing, engineering, and plastics.

2006, I joined Towergate Insurance to work as a Commercial Account Handler. My aim was to broaden my knowledge in a technical and broking capacity.

2010, I joined Bluefin Insurance as a Commercial Account Handler. The book of business I handled was diverse with a nice balance of complexity including many garden centres.

2017, I was presented with the opportunity to become an Account Executive. I took the opportunity with open arms and fortunately was able to continue looking after many client’s I had already built long trusting relationships with. I also enjoyed developing new business and found myself becoming an integral part of both our new and existing client’s business.

What does your role at Erskine Murray entail?

My appointment here at Erskine Murray is to fulfil the role of an Account Executive. Much like my previous role, I look to enjoy helping new and existing clients with their insurance requirements.

I am fully focused on our client’s needs and offer professional, personable, efficient and cost effective insurance solutions.

What first attracted you to Erskine Murray as a company?

Erskine Murray demonstrated in a short window of time just how passionate they are about caring for their client’s. The company ethos was a perfect match to that of my own and it soon became an obvious choice.

I already knew several professionals within the business and being offered the chance to team up with them again was an exciting proposition.

How would you describe your approach to client services.

I genuinely care and client’s that have worked with me will know this. Yes, we all have costs to manage and there are many ways this can be achieved. However, mitigating risk, managing risk and intelligent risk placement all contribute. I have a passion for what I do, and I believe this is reflected in my work.

What are the key skills that you bring to your role?

I have two decades of industry experience and have extensive technical, product and market placement knowledge. I pride myself in delivering quality solutions to our client’s, which is demonstrated in the fulfilment of my role.

How would you describe yourself as an individual?

Approachable, understanding, honest, competitive, fun and caring. I believe my personal attributes are reflected in my work.

What can clients expect to see from Erskine Murray in the future?

Continued quality advice and support for client’s new and old supported by an incredibly experienced team of people.

This is an innovative business, which has their clients at the heart of everything they do.

Will you be based at Head Office, one of the Regional offices or home based (if home based where in the Country are you operating from?

I am based from home, which is Kettering Northamptonshire, but will form part of an experienced South regional team. I am however available to service our client’s needs regardless of their geographical location.

I have held several National records and represented England in my sport of choice (Ten Pin Bowling). Unfortunately, only the elite make it to a professional standard, and this is more like a hobby for me now.
