From Brexit to digitalisation, BrokerFest 2020 explored a range of topical subjects that are influencing brokers’ ability to perform

On 11th February 2020, Insurance Times held their much-anticipated BrokerFest event, which sought to explore the ways in which the market is changing and how brokers must respond to industry advancements by shaping and adapting their services.

The day began with a breakdown of the Broker Service Survey Results 2019/2020. Led by Savan Shah, Head of Research, Insurance Times, this keynote presentation proved to be very insightful and really set the tone for the day.

Later on in the morning, our CEO Tom Bartleet joined an expert panel alongside Mark Bower-Dyke, Chairman, Be Wiser Insurance, and Ian Clark, Director, Bravo Group, to examine Brexit and the economy’s impact on the market, brokers and clients. Chaired by Matthew Francis, Insurance Director, KPMG UK, Tom noted during this session that “Every client’s business will change in some form - we have to be alive to that change as a broker.”

During the afternoon, 3 separate streams were held that focused on cyber, motor and High Net Worth insurance. With topics ranging from ‘The cyber risk landscape in 2020’ and ‘Latest trends in the HNW broking market’ to ‘The future of motor insurance distribution’ and ‘Estimating cyber business loss’, these sessions explored and analysed a number of pertinent topics that are influencing the financial services industry as a whole.

Later on, expert panels held discussions centred around digitalisation and unrated insurers, and these sessions certainly highlighted the need for considered and sustainable decision-making within our industry.

We were delighted to be involved in the many insightful sessions and streams that took place throughout the day. We would like to thank everyone at Insurance Times for working so hard to put on such a fantastic event - BrokerFest 2020 was a huge success!
